(Due to the coronavirus outbreak, this information will be verified at a later date) Documents Needed for Pre K Registration (English) Documents Needed for Pre K Registration (Spanish) Eligibility for Pre-Kindergarten Be 4 years old on or before September 1st and Limited English proficient because a language other than English is the primary language spoken in the home. Students qualifying by language will be tested to determine placement in the program, or Qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Parents must bring proof of income (documentation for at least one month of income). Proof of income can include current check stubs, child support statement of payment, SNAP qualification letter, etc. All those who qualify by income at spring registration must have their income re-verified in August at the pre-k campus they will attend, or

Students who attend Pre-K are less likely to need to repeat a grade or receive intervention services. And, students who attend Pre-K have higher graduation rates and even higher wages as adults! To qualify, children must be four years old on or before September 1 and meet one of the following qualifications: Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language Be economically disadvantaged, which means a student eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program Be homeless, as defined by 42 United States Code (U.S.C.) Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child Be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority

The focus of the pre-kindergarten program is to develop oral language, prerequisite skills for emergent readers and early math concepts, and to build readiness skills for successful entry into kindergarten. Registration for Pre-K is held during spring and summer registration for the upcoming school year, but FISD accepts new students who qualify for free pre-kindergarten throughout the school year.  The majority of the Pre-K registration process will be done electronically. The District will process and register families in the order in which interest was expressed. Students who potentially qualify due to an inability to speak or comprehend English will require language testing. The oral language proficiency assessment will be conducted in-person. The District will contact each family individually to share specific guidelines on how and when testing will be conducted when it is time to process their information. STEP ONE: If interested please complete your first step in our enrollment process. The Parent Questionnaire for Pre-K Qualifications form will help you determine if your child meets the qualifications of our program. Only children who qualify are able to attend. Here is the list of eligibility requirements: Unable to speak or comprehend the English language. Students who are given the advantage of attending a Pre-K program develop much needed emotional, academic, and social skills they may otherwise lack when entering kindergarten. How old does my child have to be to enroll in Pre-K? A child must be three (3) years old on or before Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to enter Pre-K 3 program or four (4) years old on or before Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to enter a Pre-K 4 program. Does my child have to qualify to go to Pre-K for free? Currently, students must qualify for free pre-k by meeting one of the following federal guidelines: • Limited ability to speak and comprehend English language • Economically educationally disadvantaged • The dependent of an active duty member of the Armed Forces • The dependent of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the Armed Forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty • Child has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services • The dependent of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award What if I do not meet the qualification above? Children who are four years old on or before September 1 of the current school year and who do not qualify for free pre-kindergarten program, are eligible to enroll in Crowley ISD's Tuition-Based Pre-K Program. Enroll your four-year-old child for $200-400 a month August through May. The tuition amount is based on your household income. Payments will be due by the 10th of every month.
