Night Stop allows passengers to get dropped off at any safe point along a bus route, even if it’s not a regular stop. This service is available after 7 p.m. on all bus routes except EmX. To request a Night Stop, tell the bus operator where you want to get off when you board. It’s also a good practice to remind them a block away from your stop. No 900 calls may be placed from the University telephone system. Charges for long distance information calls will be billed at a flat rate charge of $.45 per call for 231 directory assistance and $.75 per call for directory assistance outside of the 231 area (These rates are subject to change). No student is permitted to place a directory information call and request assistance in dialing the telephone number. If it is determined the call has been processed by an Ameritech, AT&T or O.C.C. operator, charges will be billed with a surcharge and the per minute rate determined by the University.  You will not be able to make these calls without an authorization code. The goal of the HERO program is to improve safety and keep traffic flowing along 138 miles of I-35, US 183, US 290, SH 71, and Loop 1 (MoPac) in the greater Austin area. Nationally, approximately 20 percent of all traffic incidents are a secondary incident. By removing stranded motorists from the roadway and providing motorists warning of stopped vehicles ahead, we can greatly reduce the number of these crashes. Relocating disabled vehicles to safety Removing minor crashes from the roadway Providing traffic and lane control at crash scenes Removing debris from travel lanes Performing minor vehicle repairs Assisting first responders at crash scenes Providing drinking water and cell phone services to stranded motorists The HERO trucks operate from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
