Debra Messing Gives AD a Tour of the New Will & Grace Sets Messing—along with production designer Glenda Rovello and set decorator Peter Gurski—discuss everything from $20,000 Hermès benches to upgrading Will's iconic orange wall WILL & GRACE -- Season: 1 -- Pictured: (l-r) Megan Mullally as Karen Walker, Eric McCormack as Will Truman, Debra Messing as Grace Adler, Sean Hayes as Jack McFarland -- (Photo by: Andrew Eccles/NBC)NBC It's been 11 years since viewers said goodbye to the cast of Will & Grace, and a lot has changed: The Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act and made same-sex marriage legal nationwide. Megan Mullally tried her hand at being a talk-show host, while Sean Hayes became a Tony-nominated Broadway star. And the total number of interior designers in the world grew by 33 percent between 2010 and 2016. . . . We can't help but think Grace Adler had a helping hand in that. But on September 28, on NBC at 9pm EST, fans will welcome back Will, Grace, Karen, and Jack, as if they had never left—literally: The show's creators have decided to ignore the series's 2006 finale. In fact, viewers may think the sets have remained the same, with a few felicitous updates, of course. But in reality, it was more of a reconstruction than a light update. "The unusual thing was we had everything from the original set because it had been on display at Emerson College for about ten years," explains Peter Gurski, the set decorator. "We had the set walls, we had everything, so we had that as a reference point. We had a chance to look at what could be better and what could stay." It hasn't, and won't, go unnoticed: "We were lucky and privileged to have the same design team who created the first set to update the current one. I do know that they were instructed to add pieces to reflect that Will has enjoyed success as a lawyer and that he hired Grace to add some new flourishes to the apartment," says Messing.
