Sevier County Heritage Museum located in the Sevierville Post Office houses a collection of its history, artifacts, and stories in one place for you to enjoy. Due to temporary construction in front of the museum, we will be open by appointment only until further notice. Putting Sevier County's History Together Today The Sevier County Heritage Museum was originally established in 1995. Today, it is seeing a resurgence to continue the goal of having a thorough and comprehensive historic collection of Sevier County. Supported by our volunteers, the county, grants, and private donations, the museum contains a great collection of artifacts from numerous newspaper articles of events, outerwear of the citizens and military, furniture, tools of all kinds, and of course, so much more! The collection has currently been growing in quantity and quality with the gracious donations made throughout the county. With each artifact donated, we welcome the corresponding stories of our area’s wonderful rich history. Come on by, we look forward to meeting you! We're located right downtown Sevierville, TN in the historic post office and around the corner from the Dolly Parton statue. Be a part of Sevier County History today, by volunteering with us. Meet great visitors from all over, or chat with the locals that share their stories. We welcome everyone to the museum at FREE admission. The Sevier County Heritage Museum was established in 1995 by Patsy Galyon Bradford and Janie Hearn. Supported by the County, grants, and private donations, the Museum contains a wide array of local artifacts. It is visited each year by school children, Scout troops, and numerous historians. The Museum is located at 167 Bruce Street and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Groups may schedule tours and events by appointment. SCHM is on the Tennessee Heritage Trail. Sevier County Heritage Museum will preserve and display for public benefit the natural, historical, and artistic heritage of Sevier County, Tennessee. Sevier County Heritage Museum ("SCHM" or "Museum") opened July 10, 1995, as part of Sevierville's Bicentennial Celebration. SCHM is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization; it is also sanctioned by the Sevier County government. The Museum is located in the former Sevierville Post Office building. The U. S. Postal Service sold the building to Sevier County, which in turn designated the building as the site for a new museum. The Colonial Revival-style building, erected in 1940 by an African-American construction company, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The building was one of the last construction projects completed under the federal Works Progress Administration.

They had a lot of things to look at and read. All laid out nicely and very interesting. Very friendly staff as well. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. Very interesting and widely diverse collection of area history. We'll go again, as the very friendly staff said they are constantly updating and rotating exhibits.
