Mary Jane: We just learned of VInce's death today in reading the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church bulletin. We recalled so many memories - dating back to the beginning of this particular church, Vince finalizing all of our children's adoptions, and most recently meeting the two of you at Starbucks for coffee and edits to our wills. (The later needed of course but also an opportunity to see you two again!)When we think of VInce we remember lots of laughter, how proud he was of your children, and a brilliant mind (not necessarily in that order!!!)...smiles We are so grateful we knew him and you....Our sympanth! I wanted to let you know that I heard your Dad passed away and that I am thinking of you and your family. I wish that I could have attended the wake to see you and give you a big hug. I pray that God will be with you and ease your suffering. Love your twin, Dear All, I've always considered it a special blessing to have known or met everyone in the family and; of course, to have Elaine as the very best friend ever for over 20 years! I know he will be terribly missed; but, I also know you will have wonderful memories of him. So very sorry for this great loss - with love, Gabe Termaat.

Patricia Trebe, SPECIAL TO THE TRIBUNE Vincent J. Biskupic, a longtime attorney in Chicago and the suburbs, believed the profession could be carried out with a handshake and a pat on the back. "I would say my father brought a small-town attitude to big-city law," said his son Steven, a U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. "He used law to make lives better. He stayed as a solo practitioner for 55 years, because that's how law called him: to have that personal one-on-one with his clients. They were an extension of family. They weren't nameless, faceless people." Mr. Biskupic, 78, of Naperville died in his home Monday, Oct. 20, of melanoma. Mr. Biskupic's private practice specialized in probate cases and municipal law. He was village attorney for Crestwood from 1969 to 1992 and served Posen in the same capacity from 1964 to 1984. Mr. Biskupic advised the Calumet Memorial Park District near Calumet City, the Plum Grove Countryside Park District in Palatine and the Dolton Park District as well as library boards and other public service boards, said his daughter Joan. "He wore several hats," she said. "I think he always had a real strong sense of civic pride and community interests and looked at what were the needs of the community, and he liked it." Mr. Biskupic was special assistant to Illinois Atty. Gen. William Scott from 1969 to 1979. During that time, he helped survivors of fallen Chicago police officers and firefighters receive compensation through the Law Enforcement Officer and Compensation Act.
